When merging the local health office, the hygiene institute and the chemical analysis institute, the City of Dortmund commissioned the new Gesundheitshaus (house of health).
The house consists of a five-part ensemble, with the eight-storey admin wing being the eye-catcher. The curved flat roof with its four circular openings above the roof terrace extends as far as the escape staircase and thus integrates it into the overall ensemble.
The lateral walls are faced with glazed clinker, while the façade with its detailed pattern and the turquoise spandrels reveals the reinforced concrete skeleton.
Glass and colour determine the appearance and are consistently used inside as well: Here, serene colours, glass walls and glass blocks determine the appearance.
