Bürogebäude Lünen

The environment of this little office building is a hilly area of habitats overlooking the landscape-shaping horizontal line of the Dattel-Hamm-Kanal on the northern edge of the Ruhr area.
The brick cube with its roads and parking spaces differs from the landscape around it.
The example for the progressive use of the traditional material of bricks are Mies van der Rohe’s “Haus Esters“ and “Haus Lange“ in Krefeld. The cube is like a sculpture that controls access, light and views.
At these “recesses”, the texture of the coarse clinker changes into the smooth surfaces of the glass and skim.
The facade design’s vitality notwithstanding, the building radiates a natural calm.
The interior is also characterised by the “brick sculpture” concept:
The surfaces are red and yellow and the structures feature different light moods and views, depending upon their use.
