ADAC Hauptverwaltung Westfalen

Situated at an urbanistically striking place, in the east of Dortmund at the A44 motorway, the new ADAC Westphalia HQ cannot be ignored.
The monolithic building with its gross floor space of 23,000 sq m and a length of 180m is accessed through two atriums in the corners of the building.
The east atrium is accessed via an almost 9m wide perron.
A five-storey hall with a glass roof is the core of the ADAC customer area.
The admin offices are grouped around the airspace of this hall and are accessed via galleries.
The building’s facades are of various designs in order to take account of the special position of the building at a very busy motorway.
On its north side, for example, facing the A44, the building is rather closed, with horizontal window bands.
The east side of the building is characterised by a vertically structured facade consisting of a support structure with continuous window bands.
These areas of the facade are clad in pale limestone bricks.
On its south side, where the courtyards of the comb-like building open up toward a traffic-calmed street, the facade is made of a light structure of aluminium and glass.
