Housing park, Cologne Nippes

The housing park is characterised by a row of three large L-shaped structures shielding the free space between them from the nearby railway siding.
The three to four-storey estate developed as a public housing project and impresses through its vivid design and well-structured façade pattern.
Indentations like roof terraces, access balconies, loggias and entrance areas kind of reduce the building volume’s mass and make for a distinctive appearance.
The use of contrasting materials like white rendering and dark clinker brick and colour accents provides the structure with an additional pattern.
The mixture of flats embraces all kinds - from lofts to domestic-care-inclusive.
The design of the free spaces created both play areas for joint use and tenants’ garden’s for individual use by planting hedges as space-building elements in a very targeted fashion.
