Umbau Gebläsehalle im Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord

In 2002, the former blower shed in Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord was converted into a multifunctional event centre.
The “industrial patina” was kept and five sheds of various size and height combined into the sum of these parts.
At the heart of the halls, we find the foyer to which all ways from the other five halls lead. Here are the box offices, information counters and cloakrooms. A number of openings – mainly restored historical openings – make for an impressive appearance of the halls.
Well designed bars cater to the visitors both in the foyer and in the adjoining halls.
A central measure is the “concrete table” put into the new machinery foyer between the side walls. This table serves as stage including a variable and removable stand for 500 visitors. By removing the stage from the walls, one preserves the impressive former “basilica’s” – the new machine foyer’s – spatial character – not least for the reason of complying with the regulations pertaining to the preservation of historical monuments. On the ground floor, all turbines, machinery, switch cases and slides were kept.
The levels are connected by two single-flight stairs placed between them.
